Architecture Culture and History I - Project 2 (Analysis Board)

For project 2, it was an individual project and we were required to carry out a further analysis about the building assigned to us.

The building given to me was Salisbury Cathedral and for this project we were required to compose the drawings and write up of the assigned building on a A2 sized board.

The questions we were required to answer for the precedent study analysis are listed as below :

PART A
1. How does the building reflect the spirit of the time and place for which it was built?
2. What are the initial ideas and design concept?
3. How the initial ideas and design concept affecting the architecture?

PART B
4. Spatial organization analysis
i. Spatial planning & landscape/site siting,
ii. Building sequence and process,
iii. Public vs Private,
iv. Axis,
v. Symmetry/Asymmetry & Balance,
vii. Repetitive to unique
viii. Additive and subtractive
ix. Hierarchy

This was the board I had done for project 1.

This was the edited/upgraded version (FINAL) board of the precedent study analysis.

After completing this assignment, I had learnt how to research and gather information on my assigned building. Besides I had also learn how to layout the drawings and information accordingly to make a board look more presentable and decent. I had also get to know more about the characteristics, history of gothic architecture style.
